The ears are usually bilaterally involved. The outer ear will be present as either:

• microtia
or
• anotia

Inner ear defects include:

• absence of middle ear ossicles and stenosis of the auditory canals.
• anomalous middle ear ossicles which lead to bilateral conductive hearing loss.
